TRAINING WORKSHOP ON OVERVIEW OF OPEN AND DISTANCE LEARNING (ODL): FOUNDATION AND BASICS
A TRAINING WORKSHOP ORGANIZED FOR STAFF OF
THE CENTRE FOR DISTANCE AND e-LEARNING (CDeL)
UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA
3RD – 5TH JULY 2017
Introduction
The Centre for Distance and e-Learning, by the virtue of its services stands out clear as an appropriate avenue through which education can be disseminated to the members of the society irrespective of distance, age, time and space. To achieve this, the Centre must be strategically adjusted in order to meet the challenges of a modern, technology and knowledge-driven society. This means that the staff must be properly and regularly updated on the current trends in ODL. This can be achieved through in-house, national and international trainings, conferences, workshops, seminars, etc.
This training is an offshoot of the Train-The-Trainer workshop which organized from 31st of May through 2nd of June and co-sponsored by Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and Regional Training & Research Institute for Open & Distance Learning (RETRIDAL). We were sponsored to that workshop which took place at the National Open University of Nigeria (NAOUN) Abuja. Participants were mandated to go home and train their staff on the workings of ODL. This training therefore is, is aimed at equipping the staff of the Centre with the basic knowledge of what ODL is all about, and their responsibilities in making the Centre stand out as one of the best in the country.
